The Mendocino Coast is approximately three and one half hours from the San Francisco Bay Area by car. After traveling north on Hwy. 101 to Cloverdale, one has a choice of routes to the Coast. Highway 128 meanders 65 miles through the Anderson Valley wine country, with its many lovely tasting rooms open to the public for sampling. The two lane road ends through 15 miles of beautiful Redwood forest, merging with Highway One nine miles south of the town of Mendocino, which in turn is 10 miles south of Fort Bragg. The alternate route is to continue north through Cloverdale on Highway 101 another 55 miles to Willits, at which point one turns west onto Highway 20, which winds for 33 miles through deep forest, coming into Highway One just a mile south of Fort Bragg. Hwy 1 goes right through Fort Bragg, and we are 2 miles north of town, on the S.E corner of Hwy 1 and Mill Creek Drive. The Cleone Gardens Inn is 1/4 mile further north, on the west side of the highway, just past Ward Avenue. |
